I took this photo during the day when I was scouting for an interesting location to come back and take some photos at sunset. This small chapel is in Santa Magdalena village in Dolomites. Dolomites are very famous for those amazing peaks painted with red at the sunset. That’s also the reason why I chose this place to shoot a sunset, hoping for strong direct light hitting the mountains during last few minutes of a spectacular sunset. This time we take you for a drive through one of out favorite routes – Sella Pass in Dolomites. Also this time, we added a short video from that drive 🙂 I always had this idea of taking a photo of my car somewhere in the mountains. Driving through Dolomites was an amazing experience, to the point that I only remembered to take this picture on the very last day, with not so good weather. Oh well, you know what they say, the best model is the one…

This is one of the photos taken while I was driving through the Sella Pass in Dolomites. I took a number of photos at this spot, but this is actually the only one where the road was empty. On all other photos there were either cars or crazy bikers driving easily 100km/h (and that’s also the speed limit there…). Standing there, right after the bend, was a risky business, so I had to jump in and out when I saw an oncoming vehicle. (Click to see larger) Photo…

This photo was taken in Dolomites at sunset. What you see are Sass Rigais and Furchetta peaks painted with beautiful light! (Click to see larger) Photo details: Nikon D800; 28-300mm f3.5-5.6; 1/125 sec at f/8; ISO 100. More photos at http://andrzejolchawa.com

I took this photo in Dolomites during our first sunset in that location. It’s a truly beautiful area and if you’re in Dolomites, this is one of must-see spots. This small chapel is located in a small village called Santa Magdalena and in the background you can see Sass Rigais and Furchetta peaks. At the proper time of the day, the light creates a spectacular view. (Click to see larger) Photo details: Nikon D800; 28-300mm f3.5-5.6; 1/6 sec at f/18; ISO 100. We were waiting for the sunset when huge and dark clouds started gathering over the mountain. Light rain had already started falling at the place we were at, however, we decided to wait a bit and take some photos. This was one of them. Carezza lake is surrounded by woods and there’s actually only one entrance point from which there’s a view at a beautiful mountain range. It was an early afternoon and the light was still harsh when facing south, also the blue sky wouldn’t add much to the scene. I noticed though that the clouds started gathering over the lake itself so I decided to walk the lake around and see how does it look from the other side, as I couldn’t really see what’s behind me because of high…

I took this picture while I was traveling around Dolomites. It was a couple of hours after the sunrise already and I was scouting for a good spot to shoot on the next day, when I found this spot. I wasn’t sure I’m gonna be back here on the next day, so I decided to take a couple of shots just in case. It turned that I didn’t come back there again, but after reviewing photos, it happen to be one of my favourite photos from that trip….
